Finding The Right Styles of Tattoos
It seems as though when people are asked about styles of tattoos they all have very different responses. This is true even of those who claim to be tattoo experts. There is such a wide variety of styles, designs, and ways to “do” tattooing that it can be difficult to answer questions on the subject simply by stating what style you used. Some people claim to be a “traditional” tattoo “fanatic”, while others say they are a “non-traditional” tattoo guy. So, how do you know which styles of tattoos are right for you?
The first thing to consider is what you want the tattoo to portray. If you are thinking about a tattoo to commemorate a loved one, or you wish to use a tribal design, are you looking to show the love of your life how much you love them, or are you looking to have a tattoo that simply reflects your personality? For example, some of the most popular tattoos – such as Celtic tattoos, Star tattoos, butterfly tattoos, or dragon tattoos – are simply representations of your personality, but there are other styles of tattoos that showcase a bit more of the person’s personality. For example, if you’re into vintage rock tats, there are many ways to incorporate images from that era into your tattoo design, while other tattoo styles may represent bands and music from a certain decade.
Then, the question becomes about what type of images and colors you would like to include in your artwork. Many styles of tattoos feature complex and vivid colors, while others feature simple colors and black lettering. While some people may choose to go with only one or two colors in their tattoo design, others choose to use an unlimited amount of colors. Your decision regarding the colors and imagery in your design should be based off of personal preference, as some colors can make tattoos seem gaudy and tacky. For example, if you think the color green is a “sexy” color, you may not want to use it in your tattoo.
Next comes the new school tattoo styles. These styles are new to the tattoo world and have become increasingly popular over the past few years. New school tattoo styles are very much like old school tattoo styles, except they are a bit edgy, different, and more “in line” with mainstream culture. Some examples of these new school tattoo styles are Japanese and Celtic styles, which are both very colorful and symbolic. Other new school tattoo styles feature nature motifs and animal images, which are becoming even more popular today. New school tattoo styles can either be very individualized or very similar to existing trends.
Finally, you have the gray-scale style of tattoo. This style generally represents nature and is usually done in shades of gray. Grey imagery can either have a traditional symbol or a landscape. Some examples of this style include drawings of leaves and trees, clouds, and landscapes. Grey imagery is popular among those who wish to have an image that is not as colorful or detailed as other tattoo styles, and it has been growing in popularity.
With so many different styles of tattoos available today, there is certainly something for everyone. These different styles of tattooing can range from the most common, such as the Celtic cross, to the unique, such as the Japanese koi fish tattooed on the back. No matter what your tastes are, it is certainly possible to find something that fits your personality, interests, or desires. In addition to these common tattoo styles, there are also a number of other tattooing techniques that are becoming more popular, including full-color tattoos, tribal tattoos, and complex imagery, which can only be achieved through tattooing.
