MEK Iran’s Resistance Units Spread Messages Of Hope Inside Iran

Resistance Unit’s Protests in Iran

Reports and images from inside Iran indicate that the activities of the “Resistance Units” of The People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (MEK Iran) are expanding daily throughout the country. Over the last two years, thousands of protests have swept across Iran, caused by outrage over the regime’s dictatorship, calling for regime change, and giving support to MEK Iran’s resistance movement.

In a series of activities spread throughout the country, supporters of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK Iran) and resistance units, underlined the need to dissolve the Revolutionary Guard, on account of its role in the repression of the Iranian people, and wasting the country’s wealth and national assets. To highlight their point, the demonstrators wrote graffiti and put up banners and posters in different cities. They also published photos of Ms. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), including excerpts of her speeches.

Massive posters of Massoud Rajavi, the leader of the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), were placed in Tehran and various locations across Nishabur, with slogans that read: “The Resistance Units are sparks of uprisings” and “The uprising is fire under the ashes.”

The Resistance Units also distributed images, leaflets, and booklets of Maryam Rajavi across the city of Mashhad. The demonstrates also painted graffiti writing slogans on the walls that read: “Iran will rise up in revolt,” “Hail to those who revolt for freedom,” “Nothing in the world is stronger than our determination and will to achieve freedom,” “The mullahs must get lost,” and “The army of the poor and unemployed will not rest or surrender.”

The anti-regime protesters also wrote graffiti rejecting both the dictatorship of the Shah and that of the clergy, clearly stating their inclination for a democratic republic in which the people have the authority to choose their representatives. Some of the slogans that were published or written in public places wrote: “The Guard and the Supreme Leader of the regime are responsible for the crimes”, “The dissolution of the Revolutionary Guards is a necessity to achieve the victory of the Iranian people”, and “To contain the Coronavirus the religious dictatorship must be eliminated”.

MEK Iran – A Source of Motivation

The role of MEK Resistance Units. as organized units throughout Iran, is to influence on the ground and rise the public awareness of the Iranian people towards freedom and the fall of the regime. Given the fact that the regime punishes any ties to the MEK with heavy sentences, these activities once again show the bravery of the MEK supporters inside Iran. During its 42-year rule, the regime has executed more than 100,000 MEK members and supporters. Yet, despite an atmosphere of fear and repression, the MEK’s internal network has grown extensively in the last two years.

The MEK Resistance Units not only did spread the message of hope and of unity throughout Iran but also broke the atmosphere of fear and oppression and kept the flame of Resistance alight.

In relation to that, in a recent article, MEK Iran’s representatives wrote: “The leader of the Iranian Resistance, Massoud Rajavi, based his strategy on ‘resistance units’ within Iran, with the aim of establishing units within society and forming a link between the archives of this revolution with the ranks that are seen in the central nucleus of this movement, the PMOI / MEK Iran.

In recent times, several high-functioning regime officials have repeatedly warned about the growing influence of MEK Iran, as well as the explosive state of the society. A few months back, Eshagh Jahangiri, the regime’s Vice-president, publicly admitted the regime’s desperation during the major protests in the country. “In November 2019, some unfortunate events happened in the country, especially in the Port of Mahshahr,” Jahangiri acknowledged, referring to the massacre of Mahshahr citizens by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

In connection to that, the state-run daily newspaper Vatan Emrouz wrote on January 31, “The most important point that should not be overlooked, is the growth of anger among the people in deprived and farfetched areas. Anger manifests itself mainly after confronting any government official. Public outrage over government officials is the result of established inefficiencies and indefensible economic conditions that weigh heavily on the deprived classes.”

The Role of MEK Iran in Bringing Down the Regime

The role of the MEK Resistance Units, as organized units throughout Iran, is to influence events on the ground and guide the rise of the Iranian people towards freedom and the fall of the regime. The 40 years of the Iranian regime plundering the national wealth, oppression of society, wrong economic policies, and prioritizing its export of terrorism and nuclear, anti-patriotic missile programs over the lives and well-being of the people have converted the Iranian society into a tinderbox. The national protests in November 2019, with more than 1,500 martyrs, and those in January 2020, as well as the unprecedented boycott by the people of the fraudulent parliamentary elections of the regime in February, are strong indicators of the unease of Iranian society.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the mismanagement of this crisis by the regime, which has caused almost 70,000 deaths throughout the country, have increased the degree of the explosiveness of the situation. The media and state officials of the regime are especially warning about the “post-coronavirus” situation. In this regard, Ahmad Naderi, one of the regime’s officials, told the state-run daily newspaper Resalat: “I am concerned about the security and social outcome of this crisis. There will soon be rebellions, much bigger than those of 2018 and 2019 and certainly much bigger than those of the 1990s. ”

The real concern of the regime is its imminent downfall. They are particularly terrified of the role of the MEK Resistance Units. Frustrated by years of oppression, the Iranian youth are rapidly joining the MEK Resistance Units. A look at some comments from regime officials confirms the impact of the MEK Resistance Units on Iranian society and the total fear of the regime of them.

The regime has recently arrested two university students for allegedly supporting MEK Iran, along with 18 others, who were identified by the MEK on May 5. Fearing that the MEK will attract even more young members, Khamenei, the current supreme leader of Iran, ordered his officials to “go talk to the students at the universities” and repeat the regime’s accusations against the MEK, desperately hoping to prevent the youth from supporting MEK Iran.

“Young people’s gathering places, including universities, have suffered from two great evils: passivity and deviance. In the early days of the revolution, we had some young people who believed in Islam … … and they joined its path”, said Khamenei.

In a clear attempt to suppress the MEK and other dissidents, Khamenei added: “Expand the revolutionary front. Recruit. Of course, I do not mean the MEK, the non-believers … I do not recommend that we appease those who do not accept the fundamentals of the revolution, who question its foundations, who promote the enemy and who put us on the wrong path. Not at all. You have to deal with them explicitly and energetically … They (the enemy) also work on our youth and try to exploit them and they are planning this.”

As the Khamenei radical regime slowly comes to an end, and the possibility of a national uprising looms, the role of MEK Iran’s Resistance Units becomes even more important in fulfilling the Iranian people’s long-desired aspiration for freedom and democracy.

The Iranian Resistance “Free Iran Global Summit” which was held on July 17, 2020, also supported the MEK Resistance Units and the people of Iran. The international community must support the Iranian people and their organized resistance in the fight for freedom and democracy, and support the activities of the MEK Resistance Units as the only viable alternative to the regime of the mullahs.
